Ozarks Traditional Fiddlers

Special | 29m 35s

Join Gordon McCann, Lacey Hartje, Jesse Wallace, Howe Teague for traditional fiddling.

Music and dancing were the main social engagements for many early Ozarks settlers. In 1863, Mark Twain wrote, "We consider that the man who can fiddle all through one of those Virginia reels without losing his grip, may be depended upon in any kind of emergency." With that importance and high reverence, the fiddler's role in the heritage and traditions of the Ozarks stands out.
