Well, I'm Cory, and this is "Compact Civics".
So of course, I got your back.
(lively music) First, let's look at the four key officers elected by people in New York State.
The Governor leads the executive department.
The Lieutenant Governor is elected on a joint ballot with the Governor.
The State Comptroller is in charge of the Department of Audit and Control.
And the Attorney General heads the Department of Law.
Now, let's look deeper.
The State Legislature is bicameral, which means there's an upper and lower chamber.
In New York, it's called the Assembly and the Senate.
And for local governments, New York State is divided into 62 counties, which include the five boroughs of New York City.
New York government is so complex, my X-ray is getting hot.
